Built for this kind of work.

Keep a detailed record of one workday when a single daily total would hide how your time was spent. Separate rows let you record a morning assignment, an afternoon task, and a return visit without combining them into an unclear block. This daily timesheet is useful when the person reviewing your hours needs to understand the sequence of work, not just its duration. Record each work interval as it happens, subtract only the unpaid break that belongs to that interval, and check the daily total before sharing. Use short activity descriptions that a reviewer can recognize without including private customer details.

What’s in the template

DateTask / activityStartEndBreak (min)Hours

The blank form includes 12 entry rows and space to identify the person or team, reporting period and reviewer. Add rows in the editable files when your reporting period needs more detail.

How to use it

  1. Enter the workday and the person recording time.
  2. Add a separate row for each uninterrupted work interval.
  3. Describe the task and enter start, end and unpaid break minutes.
  4. Check for overlapping rows, then review the daily total.

Keep the record useful

  • Do not deduct the same break from two rows.
  • Use an additional row after a long interruption.
  • Keep task descriptions brief and consistent.

These are recordkeeping tools, not payroll or legal advice. Confirm your own break, overtime, approval and billing rules. Do not include patient details, children's personal information or other sensitive information in general work notes.

Using it in Google Sheets

Download the Excel file, upload it to Google Drive, then open it with Google Sheets. Check the imported formulas and time formats with a sample entry before relying on totals. For shared teams, set access deliberately and keep a clean master copy.

Template questions

Make it work
for your day.

Should I use one row for the entire day?

Use one row if you worked a single continuous shift. Use separate rows when you changed tasks or had separate work intervals.

Can this record several jobs in one day?

Yes. Identify the job in the task column and add a row for each interval. Avoid overlapping times unless you intentionally track separate workers.

How do I record a lunch break?

Enter unpaid break minutes against the relevant interval. Whether a break is paid depends on the rules that apply to your work; the template does not decide that.
