Start with the right document.
Keep construction purchasing tied to the project, site and cost code that requested it. This purchase order layout includes the requested delivery location and project reference so materials or equipment can be directed to the correct job. Describe specifications and units carefully: a quantity of boxes is not the same as a quantity of individual pieces. Use separate lines for items with different sizes or delivery requirements. Confirm site receiving arrangements and supplier acceptance through the normal process. This general order is not a subcontract agreement, safety document or proof that work has been completed. Match deliveries and invoices against the approved order.
