Built for this kind of work.
Prepare an hours record that distinguishes client-billable work from internal or non-billable time. This billable-hours timesheet includes a client or matter reference and a billable flag beside each interval, making review easier before an invoice is created. The overall hours total includes all recorded work, so do not treat it as an invoice total without checking the flags. Agree billing increments, rounding and scope with the client separately; the template does not impose a billing policy. If a work interval contains both billable and non-billable activity, split it into clearly described rows. Use reference codes instead of confidential matter details when sharing the file.
What’s in the template
The blank form includes 16 entry rows and space to identify the person or team, reporting period and reviewer. Add rows in the editable files when your reporting period needs more detail.
How to use it
- Enter the client or non-sensitive matter reference.
- Record work intervals and unpaid breaks.
- Mark each row as billable or non-billable after review.
- Select approved billable rows before preparing an invoice.
Keep the record useful
- All-hours totals are not invoice totals.
- Agree rounding rules before billing.
- Use codes for confidential matters.
These are recordkeeping tools, not payroll or legal advice. Confirm your own break, overtime, approval and billing rules. Do not include patient details, children's personal information or other sensitive information in general work notes.
Using it in Google Sheets
Download the Excel file, upload it to Google Drive, then open it with Google Sheets. Check the imported formulas and time formats with a sample entry before relying on totals. For shared teams, set access deliberately and keep a clean master copy.
